Description
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance & Custodial Manager, the custodian has the primary responsibility for cleaning our facilities in such a way to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. It is the role of the custodian to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules for our facilities including, but not limited to the classrooms, kitchen, office areas, bathrooms, storage areas and entrances. The custodian follows the cleaning schedule when the children are not in the child care centers so no interference with their care occurs. The custodian will primarily be assigned one of the organization's four buildings to clean but will be trained to clean all buildings in case coverage or assistance is needed. The custodian may also be responsible for performing additional duties not stipulated below. If so, these duties are specified as an addendum to this description. These additional duties may include general building and grounds maintenance, laundry, etc. This custodial position is part-time, evenings, 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Ensure spaces are clean and prepared for the next day by completing the following:
Clean buildings by using cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
Empty waste containers and remove all trash to the designated area.
Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
Clean restrooms, wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
May undertake occasional tasks such as shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving furniture etc.
Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Dust furniture, shelving and vents.
Identify and report possible repairs
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.
Non-Physical Requirements:
Education
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Experience
1 years experience in related Custodial work
Equivalent combination of education or experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties
Special Skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to understand both verbal and written instructions
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and conscientiousness
Experience in using basic cleaning solutions and equipment
Follow safe work practices and guidelines
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Valid Washington State drives license and agency required minimum liability insurance
Must be submitted to a background check per Agency guidelines
Employment is conditional upon:
Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
Wage:$18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule:Monday - Friday, 6pm-10pm
