Description
Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. We are seeking a full-time Instrumentation & Controls Test Technician to join our dynamic team. As an Instrumentation & Controls Test Technician at our Kent site, you will be responsible for collaborating with other engineers and technicians to build data acquisition systems, test rocket components, design and build test facilities rapidly, as well as operate and maintain them efficiently once they are up and running. You will work with hardware and software, mechanical systems, fluid systems and electrical systems. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and modify data and control systems; ranging from small mobile data acquisition systems (DAQs) to large data and control infrastructure for test and manufacturing applications
- Maintain, calibrate, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot, install, and repair instrumentation, process controls, data acquisition systems, and electrical systems
- Build harnessing to support data acquisition and control systems
- Train personnel on the required processes and operations of data
- Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion.
- Precision assembly of test systems for aerospace hardware, directed by both written and verbal instructions
- Execute work orders for component and assembly tests; documentation of test steps
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot vibration tables, thermal chambers, and thermal vacuum chambers
- Identification of discrepancies, authoring of nonconformance reports, coordination with engineering on dispositions, detailed documentation of steps
- Train personnel on the required processes and operations of complex test systems
- Ensure testing is being conducted safely at all times
- Improve efficiency of testing to increase hardware throughput
- As part of a small team, you will also perform everyday tasks to keep the site running (shipping and receiving, administrative tasks, etc.)
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience working on mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems
- 5+ years' experience in an I&C focused role
- Experience with aerospace or military-grade harness fabrication
- Experience with the design and fabrication of data and control systems (junction boxes, rack mount hardware, etc.)
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
- Passion for building something with high quality, willing to attend work with a positive and humble attitude, and willing to take ownership of large and small tasks to help the team be successful
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work second shift and weekends as needed
- Willing to relocate to Seattle, WA
Preferred Qualifications:
- Detailed understanding of fittings, threads, inserts, seals, and other sub-component parts
- Assembly experience with Oxygen, Cryogenic, and FOD intolerant service components and systems
- Experience with high pressure and cryogenic environments
- Experience working with complex mechanical and/or electrical systems and the ability to read drawings and system schematics
- Experience operating a vibration table and thermal chambers

Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 3 Range: $38.22 - $57.31/hour
- Level 4 Range: $46.68 - $70.05/hour
