The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting supporting information for consumer loan applications. The position prepares Consumer loans for Approval, Counteroffers, Denials. This position will ensure loans are compliant with loan policy, processes are followed according to procedures and exceptions are maintained within our risk framework. This position supports and adheres to department lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall company policies.
The pay range for this position is $20.18-$30.26/hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consumer Loans:
Responsible for processing all new applications in a timely manner, including ordering and reviewing flood insurance, title insurance, hazard insurance, and preparing application for document preparation.
Gather, analyze and interpret consumer loan applications and/or credit information for existing and prospective banking customers in order to process necessary file documentation.
Create monthly reports from automated consumer loan system and Excel.
Order and review flood certifications, title policies and appraisal requests.
Provide assistance in the training of bank personnel on Consumer Lending related issues.
Preparation and tracking of Adverse Action letters
Quality Control review of Adverse Action packages
Prepare and track decisioned loan follow up letters
Answer questions from branch personnel regarding all Consumer Loan products, features, benefits, rates, application status, appraisals, flood certifications and title policies.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Must remain up to date on all governing Federal and State consumer regulations as they relate to Retail Lending.

POSITION CONTACT:
Frequent contact with the Consumer Operations Manager to receive guidance and coordinate work assignments.
Frequent contact with customers and prospects.
Contacts involve varied or complex situations which require tact, judgment, and the ability to develop solutions to problems.
About You
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma and/or equivalent experience in consumer or residential lending.
2-4 years previous lending experience.
2 years of experience in consumer lending focusing on policy and procedures recommended but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
Requires a thorough understanding of all Consumer Loan Products including credit cards and knowledge of the regulations pertaining to interviewing an applicant and taking a credit application in person and/or over the telephone.
Must be self-driven, ambitious, and goal oriented, with strong analytical, underwriting, customer service, and sales skills.
Will have strong leadership traits, work ethic, written and verbal communication and time management.
Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Must be accurate, punctual, dependable, and professional in appearance.
Ability to relate to others and impart knowledge and information in a clear, precise manner is essential.
Good math and organizational skills to ensure the maintenance of complete, accurate loan documentation and follow-up.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to maintain a heavy volume of correspondence, personal contact, and telephone communication.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently.
Strong analytical skills
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: up to 35lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
