Develop and improve graphics technology, artist workflows and author best practices. Focus on graphics, surfacing and associated workflows to unlock creative teams potential. Use technical artist skills to tackle diverse set of visual challenges with an eye on shippable and sustainable solutions. Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with engineers, technical artists and art discipline leads to improving our graphics technology
Develop rendering features and debugging tools to improve frame quality
Design and implement tool enhancements that boost team productivity
Identify, diagnose, and resolve bugs affecting content creation pipelines
Collaborate with artists of all types to provide support and improve efficiency
Acquire deep understanding of our engine, tools, technology and workflows
Create sample content to prove out and showcase visual improvements
Provide documentation to ensure content creators fully realize technology potential
Position reports to the Technical Art Director. Hybrid or fully remote work option in approved areas (WA, OR, ID, CA, TX, IL, NC, FL, MD, GA, NY, MN, UT, WI, MA, CO, DC, VA, NJ, TN, MI).
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Entertainment Technology, Video Game Design, or a closely related field
Experience: 6 months as a Technical Artist in the video game industry
Alternative education and experience: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Entertainment Technology, Video Game Design, or a closely related field, plus 2 years as a Technical Artist in the video game industry
Skills and Special Requirements:
Experience must include the following:
- Reading and writing shader code in HLSL or GLSL
- C# or C++
- PBR (physically based rendering) concepts, lighting and shader systems
- Writing technical documentation for new graphics feature development in Unity and PBR workflow for artists
