Machinist
INDECO is a licensed and bonded general contractor in Ferndale, Washington, specializing in design and fabrication across all metal types. Our projects span industries—from food processing and agriculture to architecture, marine, and energy—offering you the chance to work on something new and exciting every day. Our processes include CNC cutting (abrasive water jet, milling, routing, and turning), certified welding, fabrication, contract manufacturing, powder coating, glass beading, assembly, and field installation.
We are seeking an Experienced Machinist to join our team. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating precision machining equipment to produce high‑quality parts that meet engineering specifications, safety standards, and production schedules. The ideal candidate has strong CNC programming experience, excellent blueprint-reading skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and program CNC and manual mills and lathes for both prototype and production work
- Set up, operate, and program CNC waterjet and router for both prototype and production work
- Edit and optimize CNC programs at the machine to improve cycle time and quality
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work orders
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, speeds, and feeds based on material and tolerance requirements
- Perform precision inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges
- Troubleshoot machining issues and correct program or setup errors
- Maintain machines; perform routine preventative maintenance, and maintain tooling inventory
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and production standards
- Communicate effectively with team members
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAM and conversational programming with the ability to edit code at the machine
- Experience with Haas and/or Fanuc based controls (or equivalent industry controls)
- Ability to:
- Write basic to intermediate CNC programs
- Modify existing programs for process improvements
- Set and adjust work and tool offsets
- Strong understanding of CNC machining fundamentals, including:
- Tool selection and tool life management
- Speeds and feeds optimization
- Multi op setups and fixturing strategies
- 5+ years of machining experience in a production or job‑shop environment
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T comprehension
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Consistent attendance and strong safety awareness
- CAM software experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Experience with Solidworks, Omax, and EnRoute software is a plus
- Reliable transportation and valid driver license
- US Citizenship or authorized to work in the US
- Negative pre-employment drug screen
Body Positioning & Environment
- Full range of motion: standing, bending, kneeling, while working in various positions.
- Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Metal fabrication shop environment may include dust, vibration, and loud noise (PPE provided)
Schedule
- Monday – Thursday from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Compensation & Benefits
- $26.00 to $40.00 hour
