The Role
The R&D Intern will have exposure to pulse processing and R&D activities. Detailed objectives and individualized initiative will be established for the selected candidate at the beginning of the program based upon previous experiences and the Ardent Mills' need. Intern will be mainly supporting the R&D Scientist to execute research projects while having exposure to the day-to-day business activities to create an environment that fosters learning and development. Intern needs to present his/her work to the Ardent Mills team, at the end of the internship period. Intern will be also encouraged to present non confidential scientific results at a scientific conference. Total internship duration will be 10 weeks/400 hours during Summer 2022 at HTC/Ardent Pullman location. (1652 Old Wawawai Rd Pullman, WA 99163)

Key Accountabilities
Help the R&D Scientist on executing research projects
Prepare standard operating procedures on test methods
Prepare safety protocols and lab equipment maintenance protocols
Day today lab maintenance
Stay current with scientific literature with particular emphasis in pulses, milling and food processing
Prepare and deliver oral and written communication for technical and non-technical audiences
Prepare technical reports and maintains lab notebooks including documentation of experiments
Promotes safety and ensures a safe work environment and employee work habits
Support and abide by plant rules within the workplace
Required Education, Experience, Skills:
Majoring in Food Science, Agriculture or related studies -Senior students preferred
Completed courses on general chemistry, food safety & quality, and food processing
Organization/Time Management skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
People smart, curious, and open minded
Must be proficient at IT/Microsoft Office tools
Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
High Integrity, positive attitude, and flexible working style (ability to work longer shifts or weekends if necessary), able to develop positive working relationships with others
Other considerations:
Must be authorized to work in the United states without sponsorship now and in the future during the internship period

Candidate must be physically able to climb ladders and stairs, ability to work in dusty/hot conditions and ability to lift 50lb
