Concern for Animals is a 501( c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1980 and powered by passionate volunteers and staff to improve the health and well-being of pets in Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties in Washington State.
Our founders envisioned an organization that could provide financial assistance to families and pet owners with spay and neuter services, adoptions, veterinary services, pet grooming, and pet food. Since establishment we have served thousands of our neighbors when they were most in need. We provide medical assistance and a food bank for the pets of low-income individuals in Thurston, Lewis and Mason Counties.
CFA is seeking a dynamic and creative Outreach and Development Coordinator. This full time position is the primary coordinator of community outreach, fundraising and other various outreach opportunities. This position offers an amazing opportunity to truly impact the lives of local animals, and is part of a dedicated team made up of volunteers, staff, and an involved Board of Directors. Our team works together to help over 1,000+ pets in the extended community each year. Responsibilities of this position include, but aren't limited to:
DUTIES:
- Support the execution of CFA’s annual fundraising plan [includes two major events annually; ~2-3 smaller events throughout the year]
- Under direction of the board, oversee event organization and implementation
- Represent CFA in the community at events
- Assist with administrative duties as needed
- Collect internal data for grant applications and reports; maintain the grant calendar with accurate deadlines and links to support grant writers
- Solicit and secure financial support from individuals, foundations and businesses
- Develop and maintain relationships with major donors [thank you cards, followup emails/calls, social media thank yous, etc.]
- Following CFA brand guidelines, create a strong fundraising presentation that appeals to potential donors and actively pursue donations
- Write and post/mail outward communication including social media posts, quarterly newsletter, annual report, annual grantor’s digest, and email blasts to supporters.
- Ensure the welfare and care of any animals while they are under CFA care [aka: play with kittens!]
DAY TO DAY DUTIES:
- Respond to emails
- Assist with care of animals on-site
- Process incoming mail and donations
- Assist with client phone calls and drop-ins [as needed]
- Draft social media postings [primarily Facebook and Instagram]
- Contact donors and partners regarding fundraising events [phone & email]
- Maintain tracking sheets for donors, sponsors, and grantors
- Draft written pieces for future publications and posts
REQUIREMENTS:
- Adept and comfortable with public speaking
- Demonstrated sales or marketing experience
- Comfortable building relationships with the public
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience
- Previous non-profit work a plus
- Experience working in a professional environment
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and transition between tasks
SKILLS:
*CFA would be willing to train the right candidate on specified platforms and programs mentioned below.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to write and think creatively in a formal and informal setting
- Experience with social media platforms [Facebook, Instagram, NextDoor, Reddit]
- Experience using Microsoft products including Word and Publisher
- Experience using Gmail & Google Drive - Sheets & Docs specifically
- Experience drafting social media posts utilizing Canva or similar platforms
- Experience using third-party mailing platform like ConstantContact or similar
- Experience with networking and relationship building
- Reliable, Dependable and Trustworthy
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and ability to communicate when support is needed.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- $18.00 /hour
- Job Type: Full Time - 40 Hours per week
- Paid PTO According to CFA’s PTO Policy
- 90-day probationary period
OTHER:
The successful candidate must have the ability to work with some flexibility and pass a background and credit check. Full COVID-19 vaccination required. This position does require occasional evening and weekend hours. Normal hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
