We are looking for a Principal Technical Designer like you to join us in our mission to create amazing games and experiences, and to elevate ourselves and our craft. This role will report to our Studio Design Line Director. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options, and welcome full-time remote candidates who are within the US or Canada to apply.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with other disciplines to guide the implementation of core game mechanics and project design infrastructure
Own and prototype key features of the game
Support and grow the technical design group through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and writing documentation
Set priorities and goals for your work, together with important partners
Create long-term plans for more efficient content implementation workflows (gameplay systems and tools)
Develop and advocate best practices to the team
Look for opportunities to learn new skills to benefit your growth, your team, and the studio
Qualifications
8+ years of experience as a technically-oriented game designer, with multiplayer experience
At least one shipped AAA game
Strong technical proficiency with text/visual scripting, programming languages, and debugging
Understand the importance of documentation, teaching others, and respectful communication
Broad taste in games
Valuable Additional Skills
Degree in computer science or similar
Experience with technical writing

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
$129,050 - $204,600
New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
$127,850 - $204,600
Jersey City, NJ :
$127,850 - $204,600
Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
$127,850 - $189,050
Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
$127,850 - $189,050
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity."
