Job DescriptionVessel Operators are responsible for the safe and effective navigation and operation of various types of response vessels in the support of planned and emergency response projects. Operate response vessels while deploying, retrieving, and working with oil containment boom and various other pieces of equipment. Ensure response resource readiness for actual emergency responses as well as for Federal, State, and US Ecology internal drills.
Starting Pay: $25.47 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday with frequent OT that occurs during the evening, on weekends, or on holidays to support US Ecology's 24/7/365 operations.
Day in the Life
Once you arrive ready to work, and clock in, you can expect to:
Ensure all safety and job-related equipment is in good working order at all times by immediately reporting any issues and/or concerns to the Marine Project Manager and/or Operations Manager.
Safely and effectively lead crew members while engaged in vessel operations.
Demonstrate proficiency in response vessel operations which includes; vessel containment booming, protection booming, open water booming/containment, skimming vessel operation, skimmer operation, and small barge operations.
Understand and comply with company and client safety standards.
Respond and execute field work encompassed in marine services and marine spill response projects while under limited supervision and in varying environmental conditions.
Set up a containment reduction zone consistent with OSHA regulations.
Safe operation of Company equipment as well as a variety of construction/rental equipment.
Other duties as needed or assigned.
What you need to apply
2-5 years in the maritime industry.
Driver's license required, plus a driving record with less than 3 violations in the last 3 years.
State Boater Safety Card and/or have a USCG License Rating
Demonstrated ability to safely and proficiently operate a skiff /work boat and other required equipment.
Basic computer skills
Required to wear a respirator as needed
Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
