Responsible for the fabrication, installation and maintenance of traffic and informational road signs throughout the county road system. Applies and maintains the road striping and pavement markings, as well as other duties associated with the support of construction, maintenance, or repair of county roads, bridges, drainage systems, and engineering projects.

Fabricates and installs new signs and repairs old signs throughout the county road system. Responsible for the loading, unloading and installation of signs.
Responsible for barricade placement and marking roads for striping. Works with the pavement striping contractor for painting centerlines and pavement edge marking.
Install centerline reflectors in ground recesses in pavement.
Installs reflectors on guardrails and Jersey barriers.
Washes road signs in place to remove grime and maintain sign visibility.
Repairs and refinishes damaged signs and barricades. Removes sign facings from used signs for reuse of the backing.
Places and removes warning barricades at hazardous road locations. Sets out and removes detour signs and barricades.
Lays out and paints railroad crossing markers, crosswalks, and stop bars.
Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Shows initiative in performing job functions.
Performs various office duties such as time sheet verification, record keeping, filing, etc.
Assists Road Maintenance Crew as needed with related duties which may include: minor maintenance of trucks, asphalt patching, brush removal, post hole digging, and guardrail or fence repair. Other physical labor may include: Tree falling and cutting, cleaning culvert ends by hand, dismantling beaver dams, cleaning equipment and trucks, assisting with shop cleanup or inventory, and other labor intensive jobs.
Performs related work as required (i.e. may be reassigned to operate snow removal equipment during winter snow emergencies, etc.).
Knowledge of:
- Practices and procedures related to road construction or maintenance.
- Computers in order to fabricate signs and maintain the materials and sign inventory databases.
- Basic mathematics.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers, supervision, and the general public.
- Operate heavy construction equipment, large trucks and power tools.
- Work effectively without direct supervision.
- Deal courteously and effectively with the public and respond to questions or complaints.
- Meet the physical requirements of the job.
- Comply with Washington State Motor Vehicle Laws.

High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in road maintenance construction or heavy equipment operation or equivalent combination of experience, education, & training.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid WA State CDL Class A with endorsement N for tank trailers and good driving record
• MUTCD training course
• A First-Aid/CPR Card
• A Flaggers Card
• Maintenance of current skills and additional training as needed
Clothing Allowance: $200.00 paid annually
Sick and Vacation Leave: 96 hours of Vacation for the 1st-3rd years of employment and 96 hours of sick leave
Holidays: 12 Recognized Holidays (if an employee works on a holiday, they will be paid double time plus holiday pay) and 2 annual Floating (personal) Holidays
Pension: Employer paid; the County contributes $2.00 an hour for every hour worked.
