Responsibilities
Responsible for monthly medical records QA and Optum/Alere Prescription QA with an understanding of USP 797 guidelines for a high-risk pharmacy and state law as directed by supervisor.
Works under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, fills Optum/Alere prescriptions and as needed dispenses Optum/Alere medications according to standards of quality, customer service, productivity guidelines and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Responsible for customer service with Optum/Alere nurses when entering and dispensing orders for Optum/Alere, high-risk pregnant women.
Responsible for Optum/Alere data entry and to assist pharmacist with calling Optum/Alere nurses/centers for refill orders.
Input daily orders (new and refills).
Resolves reimbursement issues as generated by the SCS Computer system and follows up with management and IT as necessary.
Responsible for filing, answering phones, and stocking areas in the Optum/Alere order entry room as appropriate and as directed by supervisor.
Ability to interpret Optum/Alere Prescription Plan of Treatment Orders (PPOT) into the computerized medical order system.
Knowledge of Optum/Alere high risk pregnancy medications.
Audits the input versus documentation and makes corrections as required.
Responsible for understanding how Optum/Alere packages are shipped and tracked through overnight 3rd party logistics company.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Learning Experience
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Desired: Formal training as a Pharmacy IV Technician.
Work Experience
Required: 6 months - 1 year of IV pharmacy technician experience.
Desired: 1 - 2 years of IV pharmacy technician experience.
Skills/Knowledge
Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desired: Computer skills for PC and AS400 Main frame.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: As required by state regulations.
Desired: PTCB.
