Division Information
The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winchdivisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The TechnicalCenter is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Tooling isprovided.
Job Functions/Responsibilities
Support current product issues and new product development
Perform laboratory evaluations to determine physical and chemical properties of materials
Prepare clear, concise laboratory reports for material and component testing and investigations
Evaluate test methods and results using rigorous statistical methodology
Design test fixtures and develop test methods with support of senior engineers
Work with design engineers, quality engineers, and suppliers to develop test plans and conduct testing.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor of science in materials engineering, or related engineering field
Working knowledge of at least one of the materials areas of responsibility listed for this position, including knowledge of manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of part assembly methods and secondary operations
Working knowledge of statistics and sampling
1-5 years' experience working in a related field, preferably in the automotive or transportation industries.
Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to manage workload and respond to shifting time and project demands
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to quickly grasp and execute duties with minimal verbal or written instruction, and to initiate appropriate actions when needed without direct oversight
Physical Demands
May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Regularly required to sit, stand and walk about the facility - occasionally spending extended periods of time standing, and bending or stooping

The salary range for Materials Engineer - Non-metallic Materials is $75,100 - $112,300 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for a full range of benefit options listed above.
