Hiring incentives (hire a vet)
Businesses can earn federal tax credits when they hire unemployed veterans through the federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit program.
The amount of the credit varies from $2,400 to $9,600, based on the length of your unemployment and whether you have a service-related disability.
Washington also offers business and occupation (B&O) and public utility tax credits to businesses that hire veterans.
These tax credits reward businesses for welcoming veterans into their workforce.
Contact your local WorkSource center to learn more about this hiring incentive and how you can use it to market yourself to prospective employers.
